NU Projects is a design and build company in Fulham SW6, founded in 2010. We handle basement gyms and spa rooms in Notting Hill W11, under one contract. A basement runs £450 to £780 a sq ft, construction only. Call 020 7731 6841, and a budget estimate typically follows within seven days.

Notting Hill is stucco terraces, crescents and communal gardens. The houses are tall and thin. Rooms are stacked, and the garden belongs to everyone. A gym below ground leaves the upper floors for family life.

The borough allows one storey. A storey is about three to four metres, floor to ceiling. Every metre counts for a lifter with a bar overhead. Listed houses cannot have a basement at all.

We count the height before we draw the room. The slab, the rubber floor and the services each take a share. What remains is the ceiling you can lift under. If it is short, we dig the slab lower.

We built a new basement and kitchen extension in Chelsea, same borough. A double height room there is lined with shelves. We check the address first. Then we design, price and build the gym.
