A golf room is height before anything else.

A basement golf room is a private simulator room below the house. We are NU Projects, design and build in Fulham SW6 since 2010. A basement runs £450 to £780 a sq ft, construction only. Call 020 7731 6841, and a budget estimate typically follows within seven days.

A golf simulator needs height above everything else. A full swing must clear the ceiling.

Launch monitor makers recommend about 3.0 m of clear height. The minimum is 2.85 m.

Most London rooms fall short of that. In a basement we plan the height at design stage, within the local rule.

The room needs width for the swing and depth to the screen. About 4.6 m wide and 3 m to the screen.

The impact screen, projector and padding are drawn with the room. Joinery, lighting and a lounge can sit behind the tee.

One team designs, prices and builds it. We fit the simulator system you choose, from any maker.

What the work includes

  • Clear ceiling height planned at design stage
  • Width and depth set for a full swing
  • Impact screen, projector and padding designed in
  • Quiet ventilation and cooling
  • A lounge and bar behind the tee, if wanted
  • Any simulator maker, fitted and set up

The swing sets the ceiling. We plan it before the dig.

Ten checks before you appoint a golf room builder.

  1. 01

    Clear height

Ask for the clear height under every beam, not the nominal one.

  2. 02

    Swing width

Ask whether left and right handed players both fit.

  3. 03

    Tee to screen

Ask for the distance on the drawing.

  4. 04

    Monitor position

Ask where the launch monitor mounts and how it is wired.

  5. 05

    Impact and padding

Ask what stops a mishit damaging the room.

  6. 06

    Projector and light

Ask how the picture stays bright and shadow free.

  7. 07

    Air

Ask how the room stays fresh with the doors shut.

  8. 08

    Sound

Ask how the strike is kept from the house above.

  9. 09

    The system

Ask whether they fit any maker, or only one.

  10. 10

    One contract

Ask whether structure, room and fit-out sit with one team.

The system you choose, from any maker.

We build the room to suit it.
