NU Projects is a design and build company in Fulham SW6, founded in 2010. We handle planning applications and appeals in Notting Hill W11, under one contract. Fees are priced per project by our own quantity surveyor, from the actual scope. Call 020 7731 6841, and a budget estimate typically follows within seven days.

W11 is a patchwork of conservation areas. Ladbroke, Pembridge and Norland are three of them. Each has its own character appraisal, and officers quote it.

Norland is the most layered. Article 4 directions there, dating from July 2013, withdraw some permitted development rights. Work that is automatic elsewhere may need consent.

Norland also keeps a neighbourhood plan, confirmed in 2014 and still in use. Its Policy N3 restricts rear extensions and guards garden space. A Norland kitchen scheme starts modest for that reason.

Across the wider area, two borough policies matter most. CD12 blocks a new storey on a group with an intact roofline. CD13 guards the symmetry of pairs and the gaps between houses.

Divided houses stay divided under HO1. A strip on the eastern side is Westminster, not the Royal Borough. So the first job is confirming which council and which plan apply.

Does the Norland Article 4 direction affect my Notting Hill house?

Only inside Norland.

There, since July 2013, certain permitted development rights no longer exist.

We list exactly which ones before any sketch.

How does Policy N3 limit a Notting Hill rear extension?

It governs the Norland plan area only.

Rear additions are kept small so gardens survive.

Can a Notting Hill terrace take an extra floor on top?

Not where the group’s roofline is still unbroken.

Where neighbours have built up already, a case can sometimes be made.

Is all of Notting Hill in Kensington and Chelsea?

Nearly. A strip to the east is Westminster, with its own City Plan.

We check the boundary map for each address.
