Houses step down the hill. A hall can sit half a level above the garden. We use those changes to separate rooms without adding walls.

Gardens matter here as much as rooms. Kitchens and family spaces face them, and the terrace is drawn with the interior.

Camden asks for listed building consent even where planning is not needed. That covers inside work touching the house’s character. We read the listing entry before drawing anything.

Conservation areas: They cover most of Hampstead village. Camden has 40, across about half the borough.
Listed buildings: They need listed building consent even where planning is not needed.
