NU Projects is a design and build company in Fulham SW6, founded in 2010. We handle basement cinema rooms in Weybridge KT13, under one contract. A basement runs £450 to £780 a sq ft, construction only. Call 020 7731 6841, and a budget estimate typically follows within seven days.

Weybridge family houses are full of noise: children, guests and kitchen life. A basement cinema is the one room that can ignore all of it. It sits below, with no windows to dim.

Elmbridge has no basement SPD to restrict a media room. Outside the Green Belt, it is judged as part of the extension. Inside the Green Belt, DM18 asks for a wholly underground room with discreet lightwells. In a conservation area, heritage policy also applies.

A good cinema is built as a room within a room. The inner shell floats on isolators, so bass does not travel. Acoustic treatment lines the inside, and ventilation is slow and silent. Equipment lives in a separate rack room, with seating stepped where height allows.

In Chelsea we built a cinema room with a corner sofa and copper shelving. In Fulham we built a basement media room with a long fire. Our work is in London. One team designs, prices and builds it.

How is a Weybridge basement cinema kept quiet for the house above?

The room is built as a shell within a shell.

Isolators carry the floor and the ceiling separately.

Ventilation runs slowly, so it adds no noise.

Where does the kit go in a Weybridge basement cinema?

Into a rack room beside the cinema.

It keeps heat and fan noise away from the seats.

Cables run through sealed routes.

Can a Weybridge basement cinema have daylight?

It is better without it. Light control is part of the design.

A lightwell may serve a lounge or rack room instead.

In the Green Belt, lightwells must be discreet.

Do Weybridge basement cinema rooms need a flood safeguard?

In Zones 2 and 3, basements need internal stairs to a higher floor.

That floor sits 300mm above the 1 in 100 year flood level.

We check the flood map for each site.
