Wayne Hockham, MEP director at NU Projects
The quality of the work depends on the people doing it. Every project needs technical knowledge and leadership. It also needs somebody who spots a problem before it becomes a delay. That is Wayne Hockham’s job here.
Wayne has more than two decades of experience in the construction industry. He began his career through a plumbing and heating apprenticeship. That early, hands-on training gave him a proper grounding. It covered the realities of site work, installation, coordination and client delivery.
From there, he expanded his expertise across the full mechanical and electrical services field. His career has covered commercial, industrial and high-end residential projects. This gave him a broad and practical understanding. He knows how buildings function and how services should be delivered. He also knows how teams need to be managed.
Over the last 10 years, Wayne has focused heavily on residential projects. These are across Central London and the surrounding counties. His experience includes landmark prime residential schemes. It also includes earlier mechanical and electrical packages for government buildings in Westminster.
That range matters on a prime residential job. A large London house now has services like a small commercial building. They are less like a domestic installation. Very few parts of mechanical and electrical work are new to Wayne. He has installed, managed or had to solve them.
Wayne is known for his ability to lead teams. He maintains high levels of safety. He also delivers reliable results in demanding environments. He is a natural problem solver. He has the experience to identify issues quickly. He has the technical understanding to resolve them properly.
For a client, that means heating, cooling and ventilation are designed alongside the architecture. So are the power, lighting and controls. None is fitted around it afterwards. It is the difference between a house with services and a house that works.
