Wayne Hockham, MEP director at NU Projects

The quality of the work depends on the people doing it. Every project needs technical knowledge, leadership and somebody who spots a problem before it becomes a delay. That is Wayne Hockham’s job here.

With more than two decades of experience in the construction industry, Wayne began his career through a plumbing and heating apprenticeship. That early, hands-on training gave him a proper grounding in the realities of site work, installation, coordination and client delivery.

From there, he expanded his expertise across the full mechanical and electrical services field. His career has covered commercial, industrial and high-end residential projects, giving him a broad and practical understanding of how buildings function, how services should be delivered and how teams need to be managed.

Over the last 10 years, Wayne has focused heavily on residential projects across Central London and the surrounding counties. His experience includes landmark prime residential schemes, as well as earlier mechanical and electrical packages for government buildings in Westminster.

That range matters on a prime residential job, because the services in a large London house now look more like a small commercial building than a domestic installation. There are very few parts of mechanical and electrical work Wayne has not installed, managed or had to solve.

Wayne is known for his ability to lead teams, maintain high levels of safety and deliver reliable results in demanding environments. He is a natural problem solver, with the experience to identify issues quickly and the technical understanding to resolve them properly.

For a client, that means the heating, cooling, ventilation, power, lighting and controls are designed alongside the architecture rather than fitted around it afterwards. It is the difference between a house with services in it and a house that works.
