In March 2019, NU Projects wrote up a new kitchen supply arrangement. Budgets were tight at the time, and clients were having to drop one thing to afford another on a renovation. Cutting the contractor was the wrong saving, because the job then came back. So the cuts tended to land on fittings instead, often the kitchen or the bathroom appliances.
NU Projects had recently been approached by a supplier for the German kitchen manufacturer Nobilia, offering a made to measure kitchen, individually specified and properly built, for a fraction of the usual price. A full Nobilia kitchen refurbishment sat at around £10,000 to £15,000 in 2019.
The kitchens were manufactured in Germany, with every component tested for fifteen years of wear before sale. The Nobilia range at the time was mostly modern, with clean lines and smooth surfaces, alongside more traditional shaker-style collections including ‘York’, ‘Flair’ and ‘Sylt’.
