NU Projects has been building in London since 2010, which is sixteen years, on high end residential work. The studio is led by its founder, Nick Jeffries, with a construction director running delivery. This is how the work is organised, and why it is organised that way.
Where we work. Mostly Fulham, Chelsea, South Kensington and Mayfair, with architecture, interior design, joinery and project management all under one appointment. That is the point of the structure: the client has one contract rather than four.
The process. There are twelve stages, from the first consultation through to snagging and handover, and they are published on our process page so you can see where your project is at any point. Sustainability, health and safety and the cost plan each have their own stage rather than being assumed.
How we behave. Honesty about what a job costs and how long it takes, and the same courtesy to the neighbours as to the client. On a terrace, the neighbours decide how easy your party wall award is, so this is practical as well as decent.
Who does the work. Architectural designers, interior designers, a quantity surveyor and an MEP director are in the studio. Structural engineers and specialist consultants are appointed and coordinated by us rather than by you, and we bring in trusted freelancers where a job needs them.
Because of how we work, we take on a limited number of projects each year. That is what keeps senior people on every job rather than spread across twenty.
On the street. A site affects everybody who lives near it. Working hours, deliveries, the skip, the noise and the dust are all managed, and the neighbours are told what is happening before it happens.
