1. Walk in showers. Popular for the space and the feel, and easy to adapt: a rain head, a second head, built in seating.
2. Black fittings. Black taps and shower heads are a chic addition to any bathroom. They add drama, and they make a statement against lighter tiles or walls.
3. Natural stone. Stone gives a bathroom depth that a tile cannot. Use it on the shower walls, the vanity top or the floor. Marble, granite and limestone are the usual choices, and engineered quartz is the harder wearing alternative.
4. Freestanding baths. A classic, and still the easiest way to give a bathroom a centre. They run from a traditional claw foot to something minimal in composite stone.
